i feel like this as a first blog post fits, i dont know why
for some time now i've had this weird hyperfixation with the chinese website AcFun. i know its weird but i dont know why i love researching and knowing more about this thing.
It all started approximately in november 2025 while i was reading the bilibili wikipedia page (for some reason, i can't remember exactly) and in the History section in the first part it read "Inspired by similar video sharing websites, Nico Nico Douga and AcFun, Xu Yi [zh] (Chinese: 徐逸; pinyin: Xú Yì, known as
"⑨bishi" on the internet) founded Bilibili on June 26, 2009.". i knew what nico nico was, thats probably uncommon knowledge, but i didnt know what "AcFun" was so i decided to click on the hyperlink and got sent to the AcFun wikipedia page. i read it and looked at the site and, meh, forgot about it, at the end of the day it was just bilibili's prequel
days later out of pure curiosity and randomly remembering about it i decided to look old images of AcFun, just to see how it looked before. and after searching in the wayback machine and going on a random 2012 archive i stumbled upon this image
This image is VERY important, as it made curious as to who was this character, the site itself also captured my attention, it looked weirdly good I started researching a bit about this character, and found out her name was AC-chan, i started looking at more ancient AcFun stuff, and my curiosity kept growing as i saw more stuff, my hyperfixation stopped for a bit on late December 2025, but came back weeks later after i found some Ac-chan emojis
the fact that they were a .EIF file made me curious to try and extract them. and that made my hyperfixation come back, as after i got to extract the emojis with an extractor found by my friend Huwitto. i got curious to see just how much of this site is there.
now ever since then ive been doing research and archiving stuff about AcFun, in the search of interesting stuff and very important information i discovered there were multiple characters aside from AC. Reed is my favorite and all of them are quite interesting since they have their own origin stories, from just being made by a user to becoming official part of the platform
There have been some characters that never became official like YC and BY, there's probably a LOT more considering all these characters are fanmade, and only some of them got to be official
im on the neverending search of the colored versions of the first drawings of AC and TD-chan, i've been searching for it for a long time, with barely any results. only the b&w version seem to be found in a moderately good quality
the only instance of the colored versions i've seen are on a video about some sort of acfun awards from 2012, the video is uploaded in parts on YouTube, but its still on AcFun
maybe one day i'll find it, maybe not. nobody knows, i'll maybe keep y'all updated on this non-important search for this. well, thats it, i dont really have nothing else to say other than i know this hyperfixation is weird, but eh, i like to know about useless stuff, its interesting, atleast to me :P
